Economic Sufficiency

Why Reducing Poverty Is Important?
In addition to poverty's huge impact on the community's economy, children of poverty are at greater risk of:
  • Lower education attainment
  • Increased reliance on public benefits
  • Increased rates of incarceration
  • Higher incidents of stress related behaviors
What Are We Doing About It?
The Network is collaborating with partner agencies to implement Bridges Out Of Poverty and Getting Ahead In A Just Gettin' By World throughout the community. These partner initiatives have been shown to:
  • Creating understanding & change at the system & individual level
  • Increase individual & community resources for those transitioning out of poverty
  • Reduce dependence on cash assistance
  • Increase employability in individuals
  • Increase business productivity & employee retention
The Network also hosts periodic Poverty Forums for the community to learn, problem-solve and celebrate success.
Bridges Out of Poverty targets the community so that positive change can occur at the system, business, and agency level.  Getting Ahead In A Just Gettin' By World targets under-resourced individuals impacted by generational and situational poverty. It helps these individuals; called Investigators, build a new future story for themselves and their community.
